5 Benefits of 100% Natural Skincare

There are so many reasons to introduce 100% natural products into your skincare routine. It’s something we here at Nude Goose are passionate about. There is a misconception sometimes that natural ingredients aren’t as effective as synthetic, but that really isn’t the case.

There are a lot of brands out there portraying themselves as being natural. But if you look closer at the ingredients, you’ll often see a few nasties in there. Which is why it was important to us that Nude Goose products only contained 100% natural ingredients. But why is it important? Here’s our top reasons to go truly natural, and a few ways to check what you’re using.

1. They’re safer

Using skincare that is 100% natural is so much safer and kinder to your skin. Natural ingredients are always going to be better for your skin and body over synthetic ingredients.

When we apply products to our skin, we absorb that product. And that includes all the ingredients inside it. A lot of skincare products contain synthetic fragrances or preservative chemicals such as parabens or quanterniu-15. These are just a couple of examples of the nasties that are used to extend product shelf life.

All of these synthetic ingredients are potentially harmful to your skin. They can cause irritation, hormone imbalances and are potentially toxic! Absolutely not what you expect to find in your skincare products!

By going natural, you’re removing these harmful ingredients and just getting plant extracts that work in harmony with your skin.

2. More active ingredients for your money

Go and have a look at the ingredients of your daily cream. Let me guess, one of the first 3 ingredients is water (sometimes written as Aqua)? This is an absolute waste. Its purely there to create texture and means there less of the good stuff inside. On top of that, it means you need more synthetic ingredients to combine the water and oily ingredients together.

By making our products waterless, it allows us to use only ingredients that are beneficial to your skin. Not only are you not rubbing chemicals into your skin, but it means you’re only paying for the good stuff. Which is a much better way to spend your money.

3. Better for the earth

By choosing natural, it means the ingredients have been through less processing. Which in turn, means less waste made and less processes used. Reducing these will create less of a carbon footprint.

We also don’t know the long-term damage that synthetic ingredients will have to plants and water life. We already know that chemical sunscreens are damaging our oceans and coral reefs whilst scrubs with micro plastics pollute our oceans. Can you imagine what else could be washed into our oceans and cause even more damage? Choosing natural usually means they are also free from animal testing. Something we are all conscious of.

4. Natural Skincare is More effective

Natural cold pressed ingredients are much higher in antioxidants and nutritional benefit compared to heat treated, extracted and synthetic ingredients. You will get much better results from good quality natural ingredients because they have a higher potency.

There are companies that claim their products are natural. However, their ingredients are derived from plant extracts, or are low quality and highly refined, which reduces the benefit. Good quality natural ingredients can help with skin concerns such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and the signs of ageing. They are also great for just keeping your skin looking and feeling fabulous.

5. Long lasting results

Let’s look at our history. Our ancestors, going all the way back to the Greek and Roman times, used olive oils, aloe gels and moringa flowers. These are ingredients that are still highly recognised now. This age-old wisdom has been around for centuries, so why not listen to it?

Our skin has always worked in harmony with plant extracts and continues to keep working with them. Synthetics, however, produce fast results that don’t last and can even irritate your skin.

I hope after reading this, you are more inclined to switch to natural products. Start by checking what you’re using at home. You may be surprised by how many chemicals are in it!
